Healing, Wholeness, And Resonance

Culturally we can have the idea that one must be sick in order to heal. It’s not necessary to be sick, ill, damaged or broken to heal. Being well, vibrant and well resourced is actually the best time to engage with the healing artforms, to come into greater contact with all that we are. It’s actually before we encounter difficulties or obstacles that we want to engage in fields that help us to build our health and capacities.

I first became aware of the truth of this when I was engaged in therapy, I understood that the time for doing the work of healing is not when we are in crisis. When I was in crisis I was so busy attending to all that was arising that I simply didn’t have the bandwidth or available resources to undertake the descent into what lay beneath. I’ve since learnt that the trick is to do the work of healing when we are well, so that the crisis become easier to recover from, and in time, are no longer crises.

An important lens into the word ‘healing’ is the linguistic roots from which it emerges. The literal meaning of the word ‘heal’ is to ‘make whole, sound and well’, and stretches back to Proto Indo European word *kailo meaning ‘Whole’. What, then, does it mean to be whole?

To be whole is to be able accept the whole, to accept and embrace all parts of ourselves, all emotions, all inner experiences, without judgement or suppression. We are whole when we invite the parts of ourselves we have rejected and cast into the shadows back into the loving embrace of the all. When we are whole we are integrated, harmonised and authentic. To be whole, to heal, is an ongoing journey of discovery, acceptance and growth.

It’s a journey that certainly requires some quiet times alone, yet in my experience the journey is quickened and enlivened when it is shared between us. To be whole is to be deeply interconnected. We do this together, none of us are alone. We’re all just walking each other home. Home to whole.

Whether you choose to join me for the sound bath at the studio or prefer the personalised depth of an in-home session, my goal remains the same—to hold space for you to move towards a state of greater healing, wholeness, and resonance.

I look forwards to seeing you soon.

May we resonate with the wholeness of our beings.
With much love as always,

Erin
